Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saens.
More information about date, time, and performer roster to follow!
Oratorio de Noël was written in 1860 for five vocal soloists, mixed choir, strings, organ and harp. The San Jose Episcopal performance will feature the San Jose Episcopal Chancel Choir, a guest organist, guest soloists and a string quintet. This “Christmas Oratorio” is based on texts from throughout the Bible, as well as the Catholic Christmas liturgy, and is one of the French composer's most performed works.
This is the second time our program has performed this work, and we are pleased to offer the community a unique way to usher in the Christmas season with the whole family. We are honored to include talented guest instrumentalists and singers that allow us to closely replicate how this work would have been performed originally. The performance is free and open to the public. An offering will be taken, which will benefit the music ministry.
